Lake Ruby France is home to two stunning, exclusively-booked gravel pit lakes nestled in the heart of the Champagne region — just over three hours' drive from Calais. Whether you're looking for a serious big-fish challenge on a weed-free, gin-clear 19-acre lake, or a more intimate and social experience on a beautiful tree-lined 6-acre pit, there's a water here for you.
Both lakes are available on an exclusive basis only — the whole water is yours for the week, with no other anglers on site. Supermarkets are just 10–15 minutes away, and a full range of on-site facilities including food packages, bait, boat hire, WiFi and showers means you can focus on what matters most.
Lake Ruby
Dug in the year 2000 and purchased by the current owners in April 2018, Lake Ruby has been developed with real passion and dedication. Regular stockings began in February 2019, including Euro Aqua strain carp that have settled into the lake beautifully. Today the lake holds around 450 fish, with the current lake record standing at an impressive 67lb mirror — alongside a 65lb common and a 65lb mirror among the other residents.
The lake itself is virtually weed-free and gin-clear — allowing you to spot fish as they move through the water. At just over 19 acres it offers a genuinely spacious fishing experience, with nine swims (four double, five single) positioned around the lake to ensure every angler has a large area of open water in front of them. All swims have a gravel finish and a metal weigh post concreted in.
Weed management is carefully controlled to maintain ideal conditions, and the annual netting programme — which removed 330kg of silver fish from Lake Ruby last year — helps ensure the carp always have plenty of food and space to grow. Stock levels across both lakes are planned to increase each winter.

Lake Ruby 2
Lake Ruby 2 – The Social Lake is a beautifully tree-lined, 6-acre gravel pit with a charming small bay area. Designed with a social group in mind, the lake features two centrally-located double swims positioned just outside the lakeside cabin — perfect for friends and syndicate members to fish together and socialise around the water.
Two additional single swims are located at opposite ends of the lake, giving everyone their own space while remaining part of the same group. The lake holds around 185 fish including some exciting young stock still growing on, with fish to 50lb+ already among the residents. Like Lake Ruby, the netting programme removed 30kg of silver fish in 2024 to keep the lake in great condition, and stock levels are planned to increase each winter.
Occasional light weed growth is part of what makes Lake Ruby 2 fish so well — natural, healthy water that the carp love. Our team stay on top of it throughout the season, so it's always a feature of the fishing rather than a barrier to it.
Both lakes are gravel pits, with all swims having a gravel finish throughout. The lake key for Lake Ruby 2 is collected from Lake Ruby at 12:30pm on arrival day when the gates open. See Arrival & Departure information.
The Lakeside Cabin
Lake Ruby 2 includes exclusive use of a fully-equipped lakeside cabin for the duration of your stay. The cabin is centrally positioned, with the two double swims located right outside — ideal for cooking together, socialising and keeping all the group in one place.

A €100 cabin deposit is required on booking, refundable subject to the cabin being left clean and tidy, with nothing left behind.
