Terms & Conditions — Lake Ruby France

These Terms and Conditions govern all bookings made for Lake Ruby France, including Lake Ruby and Lake Ruby 2 – The Social Lake. By making a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these terms on behalf of yourself and all members of your group.
1. Bookings
1.1 All bookings are managed through swimbooker (www.swimbooker.com), Lake Ruby France’s booking platform. Bookings may be taken directly by Lake Ruby France and entered into the system, or made online through the swimbooker platform. In all cases, a booking is only confirmed once a booking confirmation has been issued and the required deposit has been received.
1.2 Both lakes are available on a lake exclusive basis only. You are booking exclusive use of the entire lake for your group for the week.
1.3 By completing a booking, the lead angler accepts these Terms and Conditions on behalf of all members of the group and is responsible for ensuring that all group members are aware of and comply with these terms and the lake rules.
1.4 Lake Ruby France reserves the right to refuse or cancel any booking at its discretion.
2. Payments
2.1 A deposit of 50% of the total booking value is required at the time of booking to secure your week.
2.2 The remaining balance is due no later than 10 weeks prior to your arrival date. Failure to pay the balance by this date may result in the cancellation of your booking.
2.3 All payments are processed securely through swimbooker using Ryft payment services. Accepted payment methods include Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Google Pay and Apple Pay.
2.4 All prices are stated at the time of booking and are subject to change between seasons. The price agreed at the time of booking will be honoured for that booking.
2.5 A refundable cabin deposit of €100 is required for bookings on Lake Ruby 2 – The Social Lake. This deposit is collected on arrival and is refundable upon departure, subject to the cabin and its contents being left in a clean and satisfactory condition.
3. Cancellation Policy
3.1 All cancellations must be notified in writing to Lake Ruby France at lakerubyfrance@gmail.com.
3.2 If you cancel more than 10 weeks before your arrival date, your deposit is non-refundable but no further payment will be required.
3.3 If you cancel within 10 weeks of your arrival date and the full balance has been paid, the full amount is non-refundable unless the week can be re-let, in which case a partial refund may be offered at the discretion of Lake Ruby France.
3.4 Lake Ruby France strongly recommends that all anglers take out appropriate fishing holiday insurance to cover cancellation, personal injury, and loss or damage to equipment.
3.5 In the unlikely event that Lake Ruby France is required to cancel your booking due to circumstances beyond its control (including but not limited to extreme weather, natural disaster, regulatory requirements or damage to the lake or facilities), a full refund of all monies paid will be offered. Lake Ruby France shall not be liable for any additional costs incurred by the group, including but not limited to travel and accommodation.
4. Arrival and Departure
4.1 Arrival is from 12:30pm on your arrival Saturday. Please do not arrive before this time as the lake may not be ready.
4.2 There are no Friday night arrivals permitted under any circumstances.
4.3 Departure must be no later than 09:30am on your departure Saturday (2026 season). From the 2027 season onwards, departure must be no later than 09:00am.
4.4 The key for Lake Ruby 2 – The Social Lake must be collected from Lake Ruby at 12:30pm on the arrival day when the gates open. The cabin key deposit of €100 is payable at this point.
4.5 The cabin must be vacated and the key returned no later than the departure time stated above. The cabin must be left clean and tidy, with an empty fridge-freezer and no rubbish left on site or in the cabin.
5. Lake Rules and Conduct
5.1 All anglers must read and comply with the Lake Ruby France Rules, which are available on the website and will be provided upon booking confirmation. The lake rules form part of these Terms and Conditions.
5.2 No individual fishing licence is required. Lake Ruby France holds a full fishing licence covering both lakes, meaning all anglers can fish without the need to obtain a personal French fishing licence.
5.3 All anglers must fish safely and responsibly. Rods must not be left unattended. All leads must be able to drop off.
5.4 A maximum of 3 rods per angler is permitted at all times.
5.5 Noise must be kept to a reasonable level at all times, particularly during the night.
5.6 All rubbish must be removed from the lake and the surrounding area. Absolutely no rubbish is to be left on site. Any angler found dumping rubbish anywhere, including the local area, will be banned from Lake Ruby France for life.
5.7 Lake Ruby France reserves the right to ask any angler or group to leave the lake at any time if these terms or the lake rules are not being complied with. In such circumstances, no refund will be given.
6. Fish Care
6.1 The welfare of the fish is of the highest importance at Lake Ruby France. All anglers must comply fully with the fish care rules at all times.
6.2 All anglers must carry a full carp care kit throughout their stay.
6.3 All anglers must bring their own landing nets (minimum 42 inch), unhooking mats and slings. Fish must only be lifted out of the water using a sling — no other lifting method is permitted.
6.4 No sacking of fish is permitted under any circumstances.
6.5 Any fish found to be injured due to negligent handling may result in the group being asked to leave the lake immediately with no refund.
7. Health, Safety and Liability
7.1 Anglers fish entirely at their own risk. Lake Ruby France accepts no responsibility for personal injury, illness or death howsoever caused during your stay, unless caused by the proven negligence of Lake Ruby France.
7.2 Anglers are responsible for their own safety and the safety of their equipment at all times. Lake Ruby France accepts no liability for loss, theft or damage to personal equipment or belongings.
7.3 Anglers must be competent swimmers or must take appropriate safety precautions near water. Lake Ruby France accepts no liability for accidents involving water.
7.4 Children under the age of 16 must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
7.5 Boat hire is used entirely at the angler’s own risk. Life jackets must be worn when using boats. Lake Ruby France accepts no liability for accidents arising from the use of hired boats.
7.6 Lake Ruby France cannot be held responsible for any loss or disruption caused by circumstances beyond its control, including but not limited to adverse weather conditions, failure of utilities, or acts of nature.
8. Optional Extras
8.1 Food packages, bait and boat hire are available as optional extras and must be arranged in advance. Prices are as displayed on the website at the time of booking and are subject to change between seasons.
8.2 Food packages are available for Lake Ruby (the main lake) only. The package price is per person per week.
8.3 On-site bait is available for purchase during your stay, subject to availability.
8.4 Boat hire is available for Lake Ruby and must be booked in advance. A deposit is required on collection and is refundable on return of the boat in the same condition.
9. Privacy
9.1 Lake Ruby France is committed to protecting your personal data. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for full details of how your data is collected, used and stored.
10. Governing Law
10.1 These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
10.2 The fishery is located in France and is subject to applicable French regulations. Lake Ruby France holds all necessary licences and permissions required to operate as a fishing venue. Anglers are responsible for complying with French law during their stay.
